Part-Time Tax Accountant (Remote | 10–20 Hours/Week)

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual (1040) and small-business tax returns, primarily for S-Corporations and 1099-based businesses
• Perform and review bookkeeping to ensure accurate, tax-ready financials
• Assist with quarterly tax estimates, year-end planning, and proactive tax strategy
• Work directly with clients to explain financials, tax positions, and next steps in a clear, supportive manner
• Contribute to process improvement and documentation, including streamlining client onboarding and recurring workflows
• Understand and support the IRS e-file environment, including return submission and issue resolution
• Collaborate with leadership to evaluate and suggest improvements to the firm’s technology stack and automation tools
• Support increased workload during tax season while maintaining flexible scheduling
  
  

Qualifications / Skills

• Active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential (required)
• 2+ years of experience preparing individual and business tax returns
• Strong working knowledge of S-Corporations, Schedule C income, and small-business deductions
• Bookkeeping experience, including reconciliations and financial review
• Familiarity with the IRS e-file system and electronic return workflows
• Existing EFIN is a strong plus (but not required)
• Ability to think strategically about tax operations, processes, and technology
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, client-facing role
• Clear communicator who enjoys improving systems—not just executing tasks
