We are seeking a contract Assistant Project Manager with strong PMO exposure to coordinate and support multiple concurrent initiatives. This role requires proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, facilitate cross-functional meetings, and ensure project deliverables align with organizational objectives while maintaining clear communication across all levels of the organization. This role is on-site in Morrisville, NC, with free parking available.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leadership, business units, operations teams, IT, and external vendors to ensure project alignment with strategic objectives
  • Schedule and facilitate stakeholder meetings, gather business requirements, and maintain engagement throughout project lifecycles
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities and manage competing priorities across multiple projects
  • Execute PMO best practices, including governance, reporting standards, and quality assurance processes
  • Maintain project documentation, project registers, and compliance with project management methodologies
  • Support portfolio reporting and provide regular updates to leadership and steering committees
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, dependencies, and resource coordination
  • Track milestones, risks, and issues while facilitating resolution and escalation as needed
  • Perform project administrative tasks, including meeting notes, action tracking, and deliverable management
  • Create communication frameworks to keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and decisions
  • Develop executive dashboards, status reports, and presentation materials
  • Facilitate project meetings and ensure follow-up actions are completed
  • Identify project risks and resource constraints and coordinate mitigation strategies
  • Maintain risk registers and issue logs to ensure timely resolution
  • Establish and track project performance metrics and KPIs
  • Analyze project data and stakeholder feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Support post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions

Skills And Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management or project coordination with PMO exposure
  • At least 2 years of experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, and Jira
  • Experience using collaboration platforms, including SharePoint, Teams, and Confluence
  • Strong organizational and communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Strong analytical skills to synthesize complex information into actionable insights
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with attention to detail and quality

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Project management or PMO certification, such as PMP or PRINCE2
  • Experience with portfolio management tools and governance frameworks
  • Background in corporate real estate, technology implementations, or organizational change initiatives
  • Experience with Agile or hybrid project management methodologies
  • Experience coordinating large-scale cross-business initiatives
