Do you want to be part of the team removing barriers to addiction treatment? We are looking for tech-savvy problem-solvers to work as Patient Access Specialists, part of the front-line team converting patient leads into patients in treatment. Preference given to individuals who can work 2nd shift (2pm-10pm) and/or weekend hours.
What You’ll Do:
The Patient Access Specialist’s primary responsibility is convincing the patient on the benefits of addiction treatment and smoothly guiding patients through the intake process. Using chat and video tools, the Patient Access Specialist:

PursueCare brings virtual evidence-based addiction treatment for opioids, alcohol, and other substance use disorders to patients through a smart phone application. PursueCare offers a low-barrier transitional digital addiction treatment program particularly beneficial for those experiencing significant barriers to in-person care. Through the app, patients can access doctors who prescribe Medically-assisted Treatment (“MAT”), counselors and therapists, psychiatric care providers, at-home screening, supporting resources and a pharmacy that can ship medications directly to the patient. We partner with health systems, community health partners, employers, and health plans. Patients can also seek treatment without a referral. We are Joint Commission-accredited and maintain the highest standards for clinical excellence, while continually innovating how care is provided to vulnerable populations. PursueCare is available in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and all of New England, with national expansion plans. What You’ll Do:
The Patient Access Specialist’s primary responsibility is convincing the patient on the benefits of addiction treatment and smoothly guiding patients through the intake process. Using chat and video tools, the Patient Access Specialist:
- Schedules patients with all initial treatment services
- Addresses and resolves all payment option questions
- Tracks and collects all intake documentation
- Updates patient records with all referral and intake paperwork

Perform all key tasks of a remotely managed central intake function, with a primary focus on converting leads into patients.
- Track and manage patient leads through the CRM
- Intake patients in a timely, efficient, and customer-focused manner. The key drive is to get patients into the treatment services that they need within 24 hours of outreach to PursueCare
- Work with patients via in-app chatting, email, phone, and text environments.
- Assist patients in using PursueCareRx for all pharmacy needs
- Confirm that all required authorizations and information are secured
- Assist patients in understanding their payment options
- Assist patients in scheduling initial medical, therapy, and psych evaluations
- Manage scheduling of initial toxicology testing
- Ensure patient is scheduled with and completes a Pre-Treatment appointment with Patient Access or Care Coordination staff
- Refer to partnering organizations for additional services.
- Proactively address /escalate any reported concerns with all aspects of the PursueCare experience
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor
- Excellent computer skills and a demonstrated comfort with technology.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent and thoughtful verbal and written communication skills
- Prefer a minimum 6 months experience in patient intake and scheduling, preferably in substance use or behavioral health fields.
- Experience using an EHR/EMR (electronic health record/electronic medical record).
- Knowledge of/exposure to the medical billing process preferred
- High school diploma or GED
- Intermediate level skills in MS Office and MS Outlook
- Ability to juggle and prioritize projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Desire to contribute wherever support is necessary
