JOB SUMMARY
The Training & Development Director will be responsible for elevating our organization's overall training and learning program(s). This position will continually assess company-wide developmental needs to drive learning and training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable learning solutions for employees. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the training efforts of new platform users. This position will actively search, design, and implement effective methods to educate, enhance performance, and recognize performance both internally and externally. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer. We are looking for someone with a blend of expertise in customer service, adult learning principles, and strategic leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the company's Learning Management System (LMS), and other technologies for training and e-learning.
- Develops learning and development programs and curricula that align with business goals and objectives, to enhance client satisfaction.
- Conducts annual learning/training and development needs assessments.
- Obtains and /or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media and platforms.
- Train and coach managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts.
- Manage the daily workload of all ongoing training programs.
- Evaluate trainees after training concludes; identify additional areas where training is needed.
- Develop and maintain a training calendar and database, along with an online reference resource to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
- Plans, organizes and facilitates the ordering of supplies for employee development and training events.
- Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
- Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results.
- Modifies programs as needed.
- Provide recommendations to senior management for training needs and improvements.
- Monitor program costs to ensure budgets are not exceeded.
- Manage vendor relationships for all internal and external training resources.
- Recommend changes to policies and procedures when needed.
- Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
- Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor based on the specific client contract
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred, plus relevant on-the-job experience
- 5-8+ years’ in leadership/management role within a corporate or business training department providing direct learning and development curriculum to employees, staff, etc.
- A background as an educator or other group setting facilitator is a plus.
- Previous training experience in health plans, healthcare provider offices, or the pharmaceutical industry is a plus
- Member of the American Society for Training & Development is a plus.
- Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
- Experience with online training solutions and webinars.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and cloud/web-based platforms
- Exemplary written and oral communications skills including strong public speaking skills. Ability to present information using a variety of instructional techniques/formats.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills and a creative approach to training.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment
