Crafty’s mission is to help companies craft better workplaces by providing the services and technology to deliver a modern, comprehensive food & beverage program for their employees, no matter where they work. After operating with a vertically integrated supply chain (i.e., directly fulfilling orders from Crafty-operated distribution centers) in Chicago and the Bay Area, our team launched a third party fulfillment model that has rapidly scaled our coverage into over 35 markets across 5 countries.

The Role
As the Vice President (VP) of People you will lead a talented, growing team to deliver the strategy and operations of a results focused culture. Reporting directly to the CEO, and as a member of our Senior Leadership Team (SLT), this role will be directly owning Crafty’s Employee Experience, and building the people strategies that will help us drive our business objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate innovative, heart-led leadership to create a high-performance culture and will support the organization's growth by overseeing all aspects of the People experience: talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, compensation, compliance, employee relations, and workplace experience.
This individual will be the leader of the employee lifecycle – from the moment of attraction through to the alumni process. The Experience
Tactical Experience:
- 15+ years in the People/HR function
- 6+ years in leadership of a Series A or later stage organization
- Experience working in or with a rapid growth organization, transitioning from 200 to 500+ employees
- Experience in a workplace that employs multiple types of employees: exempt, non-exempt, contractors, etc
- Experience / ability to manage a geographically dispersed team
- Previously has built and scaled a People team to engage the direct needs of growth for the employees of an organization
- HRM or SHRM Certified
Skills:
- Ability to build a People vision, the strategies to get there, and project management skills to drive the team towards key milestones to achieving that vision
- Excellent stakeholder management skills as well as proven experience in leading and development of a leadership team, as well as their own team
- Exceptional People manager, able to mentor and coach team members into being their best professional selves – through coaching, clarity of expectations, and building an environment of trust
- Strong understanding of concepts around legal and HR risk and compliance
- Reasonable understanding of insurance and related concepts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across all levels and cross-functional teams
Functional Expertise:
The VP of People should have experience and expertise in the majority of the below functions, and will be responsible for developing Crafty’s philosophy behind the function, creating the vision for how those functions enable the growth of our people and our team, and the plan to achieve that vision.

- Experience with Asana, or similar project management platform
- Experience with Learning Management Systems

Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
You are considered fully vaccinated:
- 14 days after your dose of an accepted single-dose vaccine
- 14 days after your second dose of an accepted 2-dose series
- 14 days after you've received 2 doses of any "mix-and-match" combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines administered at least 17 days apart.
If you do not meet these requirements, you are NOT considered fully vaccinated.
Must be located in Chicago and able to be on-site two to three days per week across our Chicago HQ, Chicago client sites, and Carol Stream warehouse. Limited (~quarterly) travel to our operations in the Bay Area and New York is expected.
