Program Overview

Stats Perform summer internship program is a paid 8 week full-time internship. Interns work together and individually within the organization to gain valuable experience and make an impact in sports technology. Not only will Stats Perform Interns have hands on experience in their field of study but there are awesome perks too! There will be activities, training sessions with other Stats Perform employees, and an end-of-summer presentation.

Position Overview

This role involves working with the Operations team in data collection for college and international basketball. The team processes player tracking data and ensures accuracy for client delivery. Clients, currently including one NBA front office, utilize player tracking data at scale to evaluate potential players for the NBA Draft.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately cutting broadcast video to include relevant game play for AI algorithms to work correctly.

• Identifying and accurately defining score bug data in broadcast video (ex: teams, game clock, etc.) to power AI algorithms.

• Collecting samples of player images to help improve AI player tracking identification technology.

• Syncing basketball play-by-play event and clock data to video frames to power AI enrichment data.

• Ensuring accuracy in player tracking identification and maintaining high quality standards for the data.

• Accurately calibrating court/field dimensions to power player tracking algorithms.

• Check and maintain College Football Rosters.

• Testing new features and tools for continued development of the product, potentially for other sports.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions exactly as they are laid out in an environment where pivots are required frequently.

• Ability to work independently with assigned tasks, but also ability to question anything unusual that may occur in daily workflow.

• Understanding data and technology in sports and how it is helping teams across the global gain competitive edges.

• Patience and flexibility in working with new technology. Curveballs are the norm!

• A PLUS: Basketball fan, preferably college and/or international basketball fan. Understanding of NBA draft process and prospects. Helpful, but not essential to being successful in the role.
