About Us
Stats Perform is the market leader in sports tech. We provide the richest and most trusted sports data available and are at the forefront of AI and machine learning, turning that data into powerful insights and products.
We partner with top-flight teams, leagues, coaches, betting companies, broadcasters, media outlets, gaming specialists and professional bodies to improve the overall experience for sports fans. From football to basketball to tennis, Stats Perform is the knowledge bank behind the action.
But data and technology are only half the package—we need great people to fuel the engine. That’s where you come in.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Computer Science & AI Intern to join our Innovation Team. This is part of our collaboration with Pepperdine University and offers a unique, hands-on opportunity to work on real-world AI-driven prototypes that help shape the future of sports technology.
You’ll focus on building proof-of-concepts (POCs) for new sports data applications - from data analysis to user experience, through to integration with state-of-the-art AI models. You’ll work independently on projects but stay connected through regular check-ins and remote collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Rapid Prototyping: Design and develop POCs using AI tools and sports-related data.
- AI Integration: Utilize large language models (LLMs) via prompting, APIs, or fine-tuning to add intelligent functionality.
- End-to-End Development: Take concepts from ideation to interactive MVPs using AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot).
- Frontend Development: Build clean and functional user interfaces (ideally React).
- Data Exploration: Analyze and interpret sports data to drive insights and use cases.
- User Validation: Collaborate with internal users and stakeholders to test and refine prototypes.
- Remote Collaboration: Work autonomously, with at least one weekly check-in via Microsoft Teams (additional syncs optional).
Who You Are
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field.
- Able to commit 8–12 hours per week for 36 weeks.
- Experienced in Python and comfortable with AI prototyping frameworks (e.g., Streamlit, Gradio).
- Familiar with LLMs and prompt engineering techniques.
- Interested in or experienced with AI-enhanced coding tools like Cursor or GitHub Copilot.
- Ideally have some frontend experience with React.
- Self-motivated, able to work across time zones, and passionate about innovation, technology, and sports.
What You’ll Gain
- Practical experience with cutting-edge AI and sports innovation projects.
- The chance to build prototypes that directly influence product direction.
- Mentorship and feedback from an experienced innovation team.
- Flexibility to align the internship with academic schedules or thesis work.
