THE ROLE

The Associate Director of Retention will oversee a team of Retention Specialists working with various campus partners. This position will regularly support, strategically plan and collaborate with partner campuses, and will develop, train and maintain quality staff. The Associate Director of Retention will enhance and maintain effective communication and relationships within the Full-Service Enrollment team.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with partner campuses to ensure student population is being approached manner that is best for the student and the college/university, and maximizes student retention
  • Make strategic and operational decisions to ensure execution of an efficient and student focused retention approach
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all online programs and all internal and external policies, procedures, and requirements of our partner schools
  • Ensure assigned student retention plans are met or exceeded through supervising and monitoring reps and individual contributions
  • Responsible for training Retention Specialists to ensure they have the necessary program and policy knowledge to accurately assist students throughout their student journey
  • Ensure student retention staff is exercising discretion within process and following compliance guidelines
  • Establish self as a resource for the Full-Service team and partner schools
  • Responsible for quality assurance of the team (listening to phone calls and providing feedback)
  • Handle escalated student or staff concerns

LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT RESPONSABILITIES

  • Interview, hire, and train new staff and leaders
  • Oversee the daily operations of the retention team
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
  • Provide work direction and problem-solving assistance to other individuals
  • Supervise staff, including scheduling and assigning work, reviewing performance, and recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Thorough knowledge of higher education processes and policies
  • Strong history of building and execution of processes and training
  • A proven track record of achieving measurable results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven department
  • Commitment to customer service with a continuous focus on improvement
  • Demonstration of effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to motivate others
  • Ability to manage multiple database systems
  • Ability to train and support other staff members
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and reporting skills
  • Demonstration of strong planning, initiative, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ years of student support in a higher education environment
  • 2+ years management experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree
  • Leadership experience in education
  • Student Services experience
  • Experience as a third-party resource

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Remote Office environment
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Availability to support the team in non-traditional hours
  • Travel requirement: 10%
